The Project
Fondazione Leonardo Del Vecchio was born from Leonardo Del Vecchio’s desire to contribute to socially useful initiatives and offer help in emergencies in Italy and abroad through a dedicated nonprofit organization.
Through this instrument, Leonardo Del Vecchio, who was able to create one of the world’s most important industrial groups by starting alone and without assistance, wanted, on the one hand, to create something to “give back” to the Country which allowed him to express his entrepreneurship and vision, and, on the other hand, he wanted to share his possessions with everyone, and especially with those in greatest need.
Today the Foundation, guardian of Leonardo’s name and thought, remains committed to carrying out its founder’s wishes with the same spirit and determination.
As always in his life, the entrepreneur consistently shown generosity: by his own will, every year Delfin, the Del Vecchio family holding company, gives 5 percent of its net profits to the Foundation.
The fields in which Fondazione Leonardo Del Vecchio is active are:
a) scientific research of social interest, with a particular (though not exclusive) focus on research in the medical and pharmaceutical sector;
b) the provision of social, health, and social-health services, including treatment and care activities;
c) education, school and university learning, as well as post-graduate and professional training.
Furthermore, the Foundation may carry out humanitarian interventions and charity acts in favour of persons, groups, categories, communities or populations being in a state of need, hardship, difficulty, even of financial or social nature.
