Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri
Goal
The project aims to identify new early and non-invasive diagnostic tools for Alzheimer’s disease. In particular, the study intends to evaluate the potential of tear fluid as a reliable biomarker for identifying the disease in its early stages, helping to improve diagnosis and the clinical approach to one of the major neurodegenerative diseases.
Development mode
The project involves the analysis of tear fluid, plasma, and biological tissues from patients affected by Alzheimer’s disease, as well as from experimental animal models. Through advanced molecular and biochemical analysis techniques, the research aims to identify specific biological indicators associated with the disease. The study will be conducted at Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri, an independent, non-profit center of excellence, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Silvio Garattini.
